How to Hire a Harpist
What Style of Music do you Need?
I can play almost any type of classical music or or hymn arrangements as well as jazz and contemporary arrangements by special request.
What Type of Harp do I Play?
I have a full size pedal harp. It is constructed of natural dark wood and will enhance any setting. This is the type of harp you often see in orchestras and harp solo performances. This means there are some things to consider in your event.
Some Points that are Helpful in Considering Your Event
- Is the event indoors or outdoors, or both (requires move of harp)?
- What is length of the event (or each segment of the event).
- If microphones are required will appropriate facility personnel be available for setup?
- Do you have some specific music in mind? I have many standard pieces available. Pricing for pieces outside of my standard repertoire will be considered after I see the work.
Special Issues Unique to Harpists
- Harps must be located on flat surfaces, stages, floors, etc.
- Harps cannot be exposed to high temperatures, direct sunlight (for extended periods), and rain or moisture.
- A typical concert harp weighs 85-120 pounds and is quite large. Therefore moves from room-to-room or secondary locations must be well planned.
- Carrying the harp on stairs and complex halls or entrances poses a challenge. So consider this in planning your event location.
So are your ready? Hiring a harpist is quite affordable.
